Fellow Position Available at MAP in New Delhi for Law Graduates
The Migration and Asylum Project (MAP) is looking for two Fellows to join their UNHCR Legal Representation and Legal Empowerment (Migrants) teams under the Catalyst for Change Fellowship (2023-24).

The Migration and Asylum Project (MAP) is an international initiative that brings together stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and legal experts, to protect the rights and well-being of migrants and asylum seekers worldwide. Through legal aid, advocacy, and support services, MAP aims to provide assistance and promote the dignity and fair treatment of individuals seeking refuge or better opportunities in new countries.

About the Opportunity

The CFC Fellowship is a unique opportunity for Fellows to gain both academic and field experience in the areas of refugee law and forced displacement, rights of refugees and migrant workers, access to justice, and being part of a movement to build an inclusive and responsive legal protection landscape through a rule of law-focused approach. 

The CFC Fellowship can be used as a springboard towards a wide range of academic and professional opportunities in the future. MAP’s alumni have gone on to pursue careers in the development sector including in within the UN system and graduate degrees, other prestigious academic fellowships and PhDs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Fellows will work directly with migrant and refugee communities across India and will have the chance to directly impact the lives of their clients.
  • Will be trained to effectively leverage the law as a tool to protect the rights of refugees and migrant workers, contribute to ongoing advocacy and policy making efforts and undertake path-breaking research and work in the field.
  • Exposure to the workings of MAP’s key partners and collaborators, which includes UN agencies, CSOs, state legal aid authorities etc.

Required Experience

  • Qualified lawyers, with 0-2 years of experience
  • Good academic qualifications, and a demonstrated interest in and commitment towards forced displacement issues, refugee and/or labor law, human rights and promoting access to justice.

Work Location

  • New Delhi, India

Duration of Fellowship

  • 12 months, extendable by a maximum of 6 months

Pay Scale

  • ₹50,000 (subject to applicable TDS) along with other benefits including employee welfare and healthcare allowance.

Important Dates

  • Deadline for Receiving Application - 15 May 2023
  • Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a written test between 17-18 May 2023
  • Interviews will be conducted between 22 and 25 May 2023
  • Conditional offers will be issued to prospective Fellows on or before 29 May 2023. Final offers will be issued after this process is complete.
  • Joining Date - 01 July 2023
