National Moot Court Competition by Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai[Hybrid]
Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai, and the Chamber of Tax Consultants (CTC), Mumbai, are organizing the 6th edition of the National Tax Moot Court Competition.

About the Organizers
The Government Law College, established in 1855, is the oldest in Asia, a pioneer in legal education – an institution par excellence. The generations of legal luminaries who have been nurtured by this unique institution have made a seminal contribution to the evolution of the Indian legal system.
The Chamber of Tax Consultants (CTC) Mumbai is a non-profit organization established in 1926. The organization was formed to serve the object of educating and creating awareness among its members in Direct Tax, Indirect Tax, Allied Laws, Corporate Laws, International Tax, etc.
Eligibility
Participation is restricted to bonafide law students enrolled either in the 3-year L.L.B. course or the 5-year integrated law course studying in India. Participation is limited to only one team per college or university. Cross-college/university teams are strictly prohibited.
Team Composition
Each team shall comprise three students- two speakers and one researcher.
Accommodation
- Accommodation shall only be provided to teams qualifying for the Semi Final Rounds and residing outside of Mumbai.
- Teams arriving earlier shall contact the hotel directly, and make their bookings accordingly. Extra charges will have to be incurred by the team for additional days of stay.
- Accommodation shall not be provided to a fourth team member, coach, professor or family member.
- Accommodations for the participants living outside Mumbai will be notified to them via e-mail a week before the competition.
- Accommodation shall be provided for 2 nights at the maximum (subject to change), which is the 9th and 10th of June 2023.
- Any discrepancies that participants have pertaining to room allotment are required to be conveyed to the Organizers. Changes in the room allotment can be made by the Organizers after the aforementioned concerns have been conveyed to them, at their discretion.
Format of the Competition
- The competition rounds will comprise two (2) Preliminary Rounds, one (1) Quarter Final Round, one (1) Semi-Final Round and one (1) Final Round of Arguments.
- The two (2) Preliminary Rounds and one (1) Quarter Final Round shall be conducted online.
- The Semifinal Round and the Final Round of Arguments shall be conducted offline at the Court Rooms of ITAT Mumbai and the Auditorium of Government Law College, Mumbai.
- Teams qualifying in the Quarter Finals will be provided with a two (2) week gap to appear offline for the Semi-final Round of Arguments at the venue.
- The Final Round shall also consist of one (1) Mooting Round which will be a “KnockOut” Round where the team with the higher Round Total shall be declared as the Best Team.

- Release of Moot: 6th April 2023
- Last date for registration for the competition: 21st April, 2023
- Last date for seeking clarifications: 25th April, 2023
- Last date of submission of soft copies of Memorials: 12th May, 2023
- Last date of submission of hard copies of Memorials: 2nd June, 2023
- Preliminary and Quarter-final Rounds (Online): 27th May, 2023
- Semi-final and Final Rounds (Offline): 10th June, 2023
Registration
- All registering colleges must provisionally register themselves by sending an e-mail to taxmootglc@gmail.com. The last date to register is 21st April 2023 by 11:59 p.m. IST. Only after the provisional registration has been confirmed will a link to a Google Form and details for the payment of registration fees be provided.
- The Registration Fee is Rs. 2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand Only) per Team. The Registration Fee must be paid via NEFT, the details of which will be provided once the provisional registration has been confirmed.
- This Registration Fee is inclusive of accommodation which will be provided for teams qualifying for the Semi-Final Rounds of the competition, and residing outside of Mumbai.
- In the event of a team backing out of the Competition two (2) weeks prior to the Oral Rounds, the team will not be eligible for a refund of the Registration Fee.
